A DVI-D plug cannot transmit an analog signal. A DVI-I connector may carry both signal types, but actual compatibility still depends on the source equipment, display and adapter configuration.
A DVI cable manufacturer should confirm the internal wiring rather than relying only on the visible connector pins.
Single-link DVI is suitable for many established monitor, projector and industrial display systems requiring resolutions up to approximately 1920 × 1200 at 60Hz.

Dual-link DVI uses additional digital channels and should be selected when the connected equipment requires greater bandwidth or resolutions such as 2560 × 1600 at 60Hz.
A 24+1 connector should not automatically be described as dual-link unless all required signal pins are connected and the finished cable has been validated for the intended resolution.
The required resolution and cable length should be evaluated together.
A longer cable creates greater signal loss than a short assembly. Cable gauge, conductor material, pair construction, shielding and connector termination can all affect display stability.

The current Len-Link 24+1 cable lists lengths up to 3 metres and support for resolutions up to 1920 × 1200 and 1080p@60Hz.
A shielded DVI cable is commonly selected for office equipment, industrial systems, control rooms and installations where other power or signal cables may create electromagnetic interference.
Depending on the project, the cable structure can be evaluated for:

The shielding method should be defined in the approved specification. Terms such as “double shielded” are not sufficient unless the actual foil, braid and coverage requirements are recorded.

For these projects, the priority is not adding the latest video standard. The priority is reproducing a cable that fits the existing equipment and maintains stable operation.

DVI may be connected to HDMI, DisplayPort or VGA equipment, but the conversion method depends on the source signal and target interface.
DVI-D and HDMI both carry digital video, so compatible equipment may use a passive cable or adapter. DVI does not normally carry HDMI audio, so buyers should confirm whether separate audio is required.
DisplayPort-to-DVI projects may require a passive or active conversion solution depending on the source output and target display.
DVI-I may provide analog compatibility when the source supports analog output. DVI-D is digital-only and cannot be converted to VGA with a simple passive adapter.
The source and display direction should always be stated because active conversion cables may not operate in reverse.
