VGA is an analog video interface. The achievable image quality is influenced by the source, display, resolution, refresh rate, conductor structure, cable length and surrounding interference.
A short cable used for a standard office monitor does not require the same construction as a longer cable routed through an AV cabinet or industrial installation.

A standard VGA connector has 15 pin positions, but not every low-cost cable uses the same conductor arrangement.
The RGB video channels, horizontal and vertical synchronization, grounding and identification lines should be defined according to the intended equipment. Some project cables use VGA 3+2, 3+4, 3+5 or 3+6 structures, referring to the combination of coaxial RGB channels and additional conductors.
For normal computer-monitor cables, buyers should confirm whether all required pins are connected. For industrial or replacement assemblies, provide the equipment pinout or an approved sample rather than assuming a standard wiring layout.
Shielding is especially relevant to VGA because unwanted electrical interference may appear as image noise, shadowing, color distortion or reduced sharpness.

Ferrite cores are commonly added near VGA connectors to reduce high-frequency common-mode interference. They may be useful for long cables, electrically noisy installations or equipment that has already shown signal-quality problems.
They are not a substitute for suitable conductors, correct grounding or effective shielding.
